ThiruvananthapuramThe election campaign rally of Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will be held at Shanghumugham beach here on  February 1 or 2.  He may also attend the Dharmasooya Mahayaga led by Swami Tathata at Tapovarishtashram, Kinassery, Palakkad,  on February 9.

After Modi’s successful visit to Sivagiri in April, the Modi camp and the state BJP leadership have been planning to hold an election rally in either Kochi or Thiruvananthapuram.

“We will finalise  the date and venue only at the  state committee meeting of the BJP on December 20. Hopefully, the venue will be Shanghumugham beach as the other alternative  Putharikandam Maidan is comparatively small. Once Modi’s security team gives the nod, the venue too will be cleared,” a top BJP leader told DC.

A staff member of  the Gujarat Chief Minister’s  Malayali team told DC that Modi was also expected to attend the Dharmasooya Mahayaga.

“Yes, we have been told that Modi will attend the yaga and we have started preparations for it. The Mahayaga is meant to generate and transmit ‘cosmic energy’ to the physical world, all living beings and the whole universe,” said M. Sudhakaran, Palakkad district coordinator of the  yaga.
