Kochi: The government is planning to introduce a  compulsory six-month or three-month training class for the applicants for driving licence, Transport Minister Aryadan Muhammed said here on Monday.

As a first step,  a drivers’ training institute would be launched at Edapal shortly. “The infrastructure  work, including that of the main building, hostel and yard,  has almost been completed.

Most of the mishaps occur due to violation of rules.  So theory plays as important a  role as practical,” he said  while releasing a book ‘Behind the wheels’ penned by former deputy transport commissioner M. N. Prabhakaran.
