267 IIT-M students get placements

267 stude­nts got selected in top MNCs within three days of placements.

Chennai: Within three days of the first round of placements at IIT-Madras, 267 stude­nts got placed in top m­u­lt­i­national companies like Oracle, Amazon Deve­lo­p­m­ent Centre and Cisco Systems India Pvt. Ltd.
 
“On December 2 we had ab­o­ut 10 companies in the re­cru­itment process whi­ch offered placements to 103 students, and on Dec­e­mber 3, 68 off­e­rs were ma­de by 12 top co­m­panies, in­­cl­uding Cisco, Oracle and VMWare. Cis­co off­e­red jobs to 14 stude­nts, fol­l­owed by Oracle (13),” Lt.Col. Jayakumar, de­p­uty registrar (stude­nts, training and placement) at IIT-Madras, said.
 
On day 4 (December 4), 11 companies visited the campus for placement, which started at 6 am with group discussion by two companies, of which one had their written test, followed by personal int­e­r­­v­iews. This year, ov­er 1,300 students have reg­i­s­t­ered for placement and 265 companies have exp­re­s­sed their willingness to recruit students, Jay­a­­kumar said. Stud­en­ts who have received job offers say they don’t see any sign of recession as several companies offe­red attractive salaries.
