Kochi: The customs department on Monday issued  a summons to actor Kalabhavan Mani in connection with the seizure of his gold bracelet at the Cochin  airport on Sunday.

“A summons has been issued asking him to appear for interrogation either on Tuesday or on a date of his convenience so as to bring clarity regarding the weight and vale of the object,” said S.A.S. Navaz, customs deputy commissioner. However, no cases have been registered against him  so far and further proceedings on the issue will be based on his statements, he added.

Earlier, the actor had claimed that the bracelet consisted of five-and-a-half sovereigns of gold and that the remaining was iron.\

The actor allegedly misbehaved with the customs officials  when he was stopped for  checking on his arrival from Kuwait. The officials alleged that he threw his bracelet at the counter and left in a huff when they asked him to remove it  and hand it over for testing.
