YercaudChief Minister and AIADMK supremo J.Jayalalithaa on Thursday vowed to create a “resplendent, prosperous, power-cut free Tamil Nadu’ soon, defeating the joint conspiracy of the Congress and the DMK.

In her whirlwind campaign tour of the Yercaud Assembly constituency, CM asked the voters of Yercaud to teach a “fitting lesson” in the December 4 by-poll to the “anti-people” DMK and Congress which had jointly plotted to create the power crisis in Tamil Nadu.

As the Opposition DMK has turned power outage into an election issue in Yercaud, CM said the people of Tamil Nadu suspected the Central government’s conspiratorial role in the latest power crisis. For, the power plants in Neyveli and Kalpakkam under the control of the Centre had developed snags at the same time leading to the present power outage in Tamil Nadu.

The chief minister said that the people were debating whether the Congress and the DMK had “plotted” the power crisis as she had refused to submit to the pressures of the Central Government.

The Chief Minister, who campaigned at nine places including Vazhapadi and Ayodhypattinam, was given a rousing welcome by party members and the public, including hundreds of women clad in green saris, all through the route. Jayalalithaa assured the voters that veterinary hospitals would be opened in four places in Yercaud constituency and a government arts college at Vazhapadi.

She also said that the taluk hospital at Vazhapadi would be upgraded.

YercaudChief minister and AIADMK supremo J. Jayalalithaa on Thursday said she was working tirelessly to make Tamil Nadu the number one state in the country and appealed to the voters of Yercaud to strengthen her hands with a massive bypoll victory.

Campaigning for the AIADMK candidate P. Saroja in the Yercaud Assembly constituency where a byelection is scheduled for December 4, she appealed to the voters to ensure that the DMK candidate forfeited his election deposit. During the erstwhile DMK regime, land grabbing was rampant and law and order had deteriorated.

However, in the last two and a half years, Jayalalithaa said she had ceaselessly worked to bring about over-all development in the state.

The AIADMK chief said that people had appealed for setting up new primary health centres in M.Perumapalayam, Vellakundam, Singipuram panchayat and Ayodhiyapattinam, repairing of roads from Danishpet to Yercaud, upgrading of the primary health centre at Valasaiyur and laying of 3.5 km tar road around the Thandroeaswaran temple. “Your dearest sister will do all that is needed for the uplift of Yercaud,” she assured.

Jayalalithaa also listed the welfare and infrastructure schemes being implemented in Yercaud.  Water supply schemes had been implemented at a cost of Rs 3.63 crore and new roads laid at a cost of Rs 52.63 crore in the constituency, she said. In the current year, road works are being carried out for Rs 64.60 crore.

Under the solar-powered green house scheme, 1,254 houses had been completed at a cost of Rs 24.58 crore.

Many functionaries of the DMK, the Congress, DMDK and other parties joined the AIADMK during Jayalalithaa's whistle-stop tour of the constituency.

The Yercaud Assembly seat fell vacant following the death of AIADMK legislator Perumal. His wife, Saroja is contesting the byelection.
