Even as he waits for 'R... Rajkumar' to release on December 6, Shahid Kapoor — whose career could certainly do with an actual hit — is now enjoying the support that the film’s makers have extended to him.

Even though Shahid’s last film, 'Phata Poster Nikla Hero', flopped, 'R... Rajkumar' producers Sunil Lulla and Viki Rajani are leaving no stone unturned to aggressively promote their film.

“Why should we compromise?” asked Viki, adding, “Shahid is like our family member. The release as well as the promotions had to be at the highest level.

See, when Sachin scores a couple of ducks then you don’t get him out of the team. Sometimes you have to give  people a chance. They are human, they make mistakes. However, just like Sachin is talented, so is Shahid. With 'R... Rajkumar', he will bounce back.”

For Prabhu Deva, who has worked with senior actors like Salman Khan ('Wanted') and Akshay Kumar ('Rowdy Rathore'), it was time to bring Shahid out of the pyaar ka zone and introduce him to the world of maar as well!

“Sometimes actors select us directors, sometimes producers tell us whom to take and sometimes the script dictates who is the right choice. Shahid is what the film needed,” Prabhu said. “These kind of films make the man on the street believe that when it comes to love, any villain can be defeated. Shahid brings out that aspect really well.”

The film’s team is confident that Shahid’s rough patch will end now and he will be back in the reckoning all over again.

Prabhu said, “When a hero does something from the heart, it shows. It makes everything believable. Everyone knows that Shahid is a very talented artiste. Now with this film, he is going to make it all count.”
