Hyderabad: Prominent film and television actor Raja Ravindra was booked by the police late on Saturday night for drunk driving.

Ravindra was checked by the traffic police at Banjara Hills and was found to have alcohol levels beyond permissible limits in his bloodstream. His car was seized and he will be produced in court on Tuesday.

Ravindra was travelling from Film Nagar late on Saturday when the traffic police intercepted him near MLA Colony in Banjara Hills.

Police said that the actor initially objected to taking the alcohol test but agreed later. He was found to have Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of 113 mg per 100 ml. The permissible limit is 30 mg per 100 ml of blood.

“He was stopped at our drunken driving check point near MLA Colony. For about a minute or so, he tried to avoid taking the breath analyzer test but then he took it and was found to have excessive BAC. He will be produced in court on Tuesday,” said K. Balakrishna Reddy, Inspector of Police (Traffic), Banjara Hills.

Ravindra was driving a car registered in the name of Celebzone Media. He has to appear for a counselling session at the Traffic Training Institute (TTI) in Goshamahal on Monday after which he will be produced in court on Tuesday.

In September, film writer Kona Venkat was caught at Banjara Hills for drunken driving. The court had let him off with a fine as his BAC only narrowly exceeded the permissible limit.
