Is Aamir Khan going the Tom Cruise way?

Action sequences in 'Dhoom 3' seem similar to those from the 'Mission: Impossible' series.

With the teasers of 'Dhoom 3' now out, what has been noted is their resemblance to some of the action sequences from Tom Cruise’s 'Mission: Impossible' franchise, especially the scenes involving Aamir Khan.

“There are very obvious similarities between the action scenes of 'Dhoom 3' and the 'Mission: Impossible movies'. It’s certainly more than just ‘inspiration’. Aamir was very clear that he wanted the best and the slickest action sequences for a film that has him playing a negative role for the first time. Apart from being worth his while, it also had to do justice to his image as a perfectionist. Indian technicians have their limitations and that must’ve left Aamir and producer Aditya Chopra with no option but to take references from a Hollywood film,” said one trade insider.

Bollywood has famously (or infamously) been known for the inspiration it seeks from the West. Recently, Ranbir Kapoor’s funny act in 'Barfi'! too was traced to Hollywood influences. Our filmmakers may claim to have original scripts and scenes but haven’t entirely avoided being labelled copycats. Will the 'Dhoom 3' team defend themselves from these latest allegations?
