Rajasthan is Malayalis’ winter destination

Statistics show 22% opts for Rajasthan, 19% for Rameshwaram and 12% for Munnar.

Kochi: Rajasthan is the favourite destination of Kerala families for the coming winter holidays, according to statistics based on the booking and searches of travel tickets and hotels through online websites for the November-January period.

The statistics shows 22 per cent of the online travel planners have opted for Rajasthan, while 19 per cent for Rameshwaram and 12 per cent for Munnar. The study focuses on the favourite destinations while planning tours with kids.

The statistics also says a huge number of Kerala families goes to  Pondicherry (6 per cent) and Kodaikanal (5 per cent). The rest 36 per cent choose  locations like Hyderabad, Agra and Puri. The data also shows  most of the  families in Kerala opt for hills (29 per cent) while 18 per cent go for jungle locations and 16 per cent  for pilgrimage.

The statistics was brought out by HolidayIQ.com, a holiday review website, based on the analyses of the searches and bookings conducted by its users. A website official said the statistics regarding trips planned with kids has been released as part of the Children’s Day. “People plan trips 30 to 60 days in advance,” he said.

When it comes to non-Keralites making plans for a Kerala trip, most prefer  Munnar (34 per cent). Kovalam (13 per cent), Wayanad (11 per cent), Kochi (10 per cent) and Kumarakom (8 per cent) are the other favourite destinations in Kerala.

The rest of the trips to Kerala are scattered at  locations like Kuttikkanam, Wagamon, Thekkady and Kannur. The statistics also says 45 per cent of the non-Keralites choose hills, 25 per cent waterfront locations and 18 per cent beaches.
