4 Held For Committing Robbery In Tata Nagar Express At Moula Ali

The arrested persons snatched Rs.10,000 cash from a train passenger: Police

Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Government Railway Police (GRP) in coordination with Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested three persons and a juvenile on charges of snatching Rs.10,000 from a passenger in Tata Nagar express at Moula Ali railway station.

The quartet, who came to the city 10 months ago, got acquainted with each other at Saibaba Colony in Suraram and started seeking alms. Since then, the four of them have been asking money from passengers in trains for their livelihood.

Sometimes, when passengers found alone and refused to give money, they threatened and forcibly took money from them. On May 12, they reached Secunderabad railway station. While Tatanagar Express was stationed on the platform, they boarded the general compartment until Warangal.

After the train crossed Moula Ali railway station, they began asking money from passengers. In that process, they asked a youngster for money, but he initially refused. Later, the quartet surrounded him and threatened him demanding money.

They snatched the passenger's purse containing Rs.10,000 and beat him up severely. As the train slowed down before reaching Jangaon railway station, they all got off and returned to their residence. The money was equally divided among them, each getting Rs.2,500.

When they again arrived at Secunderabad railway station on Wednesday, the police nabbed them on platform one while moving in a suspicious manner. After being grilled, they admitted that they had committed the crime. The police recovered the stolen cash from the arrested persons.
