Hyderabad: The Telangana Waqf Board has completed 20,000 Waqf properties registration on Umeed portal, placing fourth position in the country in terms of registrations, till the last count on Wednesday. Efforts are on to complete the remaining over 13,000 properties registration before the December 6 deadline.
This is the first of the three-stage process for registering the properties. As part of the first process, details pertaining to 20,000 of Gazette notified properties have been uploaded on Umeed portal. This is followed by a checking and approval process, which are being done simultaneously.
There are about 25,000 unregistered properties and custodians have come forward to register them under the ‘Waqf by User’ category, Waqf Board CEO Md. Asadullah told Deccan Chronicle.
Waqf Board chairman Azmatullah Hussaini said “Since the deadline is fast approaching they enhanced the number of data entry operators to speed up the registration process of the remaining 13,000 properties.”
Custodians are facing several difficulties, including a slow portal, while uploading the details, he said, adding that they hope to complete registration of the rest gazette notified properties shortly.
“Given the issues, including technical glitches and slow processing in the Umeed portal, the state government recently wrote a letter to the Central government seeking extension of the deadline for registration. We are waiting for the deadline extension,” he added.
