Two families started from their residence in Warangal to visit Hyderabad and stopped at Ranganayakasagar
Hyderabad: Two youngsters from Warangal drowned in Ranganayakasagar reservoir at Chinnakodur on the outskirts of Siddipet, which is 120 km from Hyderabad.
Around 10 members from two families started from their residence in Warangal to visit Hyderabad on Saturday. En route, they halted at Ranganayakasagar to visit the reservoir around 3 pm. Even as other families were standing at the reservoir, four of them entered the water.
As they were enjoying the water, Maharaj (13), and her neighbor Arbaz (15), both school students, further entered deep and got drowned, said Chinnakodur Inspector G Balakrishna on Sunday. Usually, fishermen and locals wander near the reservoir every day.
With the onset of summer, they were arriving at the reservoir in the morning and leaving before noon. The absence of fishermen and locals at the reservoir resulted in delay in extending helping hand to the families in rescuing the people.
On coming to know about the incident, the police rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies with the help of expert swimmers. The police handed over the bodies after an autopsy at the government hospital in Siddipet.
