Telangana: Prisoners to be shifted from Charlapall

120 life prisoners had committed offences in the Hyderabad district jurisdiction.

Hyderabad: As many as 120 prisoners, all of them life convicts, would be shifted from Charlapalli Central Prison to Chanchalguda in a week.

Director General of Prisons Vinoy Kumar Singh has issued a memo to the superintendent of Charlapalli prison to take action accordingly after taking due precautions.

All the 120 life prisoners had committed offences in the Hyderabad district jurisdiction and as per rules had to be lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Prison.

Due to the renovation and repair works at the Chanchalguda jail, they were transferred to Charlapalli. With the work complete, the prisons’ DG issued the memo for their transfer.

Charlapalli prison superintendent K. Venkateswar Reddy said the prisoners would be shifted in phases. “They will be employed in the upcoming prisoners’ industries at Chanchalguda prison and the proposed petrol bunk,” he said. The Charlapalli Central Prison has 1,600 inmates, Mr Venkateswar Reddy said.
