Tirunelveli: Ten tourists killed in mishap

TIRUNELVELI: In one of the worst road disasters, at least ten tourists including two children, aged six and four, were killed and 28 others critically injured at Pilakottai village near Panagudi in Tirunelveli district early on Friday, as the bus in which they were returning from a pilgrimage suddenly overturned.
A private omnibus bound for Thiruvananthapuram from Karaikal via the pilgrim centre of Velankanni, capsized in a bizarre mishap after hitting the road median on the Madurai-Thiruvananthapuram national highway near here around 5 am. The bus had left Karaikal around 9 pm on Thursday, police here said, adding, some of its occupants were from far-away Gujarat.
