Govt to extend co-operation to develop NTR Stadium in AP: Venkaiah Naidu

It will be upgraded to a national-level stadium, says Venkaiah Naidu.

Machillipatnam: Centre will provide full co-operation to the Andhra Pradesh government for the upgradation and development of NTR Stadium in Gudivada town, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said on Saturday.

"The NDA government will give full co-operation for the development of the NTR Stadium and Gudivada Town. I am very proud of the state that the stadium named after former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and famous cine artist N T Rama Rao will be upgraded to a national-level stadium and national sports will be conducted here," Naidu said after inaugurating National-level Rural Sports Competitions 2016 at the NTR Stadium in Krishna district.

The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh is hosting the competition, which will culminate on January 12.

The Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Urban Development said competitions like these are an opportunity for local youth to showcase their talent.

Around 2,500 athletes from 29 states and 7 Union Territories are participating in the sports event.

Andhra Pradesh Excise and BC Welfare Minister Kollu Ravindra were among those present on the occasion.
