Basic sciences grads can now dream big: Prof. Shin Ichiro Nishimura
Mysuru: The world is set to boom for graduates in basic sciences. So thinks Prof. Shin Ichiro Nishimura, of Hokkaido University, Japan.
He said the technological world has become highly dynamic with governments in Australia, Japan, UK and US, spending 2-4 percent of their GDP on Research and Development.
Countries like India which were spending less, are now planning to increase the R&D budget to 2 per cent of GDP in the next five years. The private sector will also be spending an equal amount during this period.
So graduates in basic sciences can dream big and fulfill their ambition of discovering new things as strengthening of R& D increases opportunities for jobs, he said, while addressing students at third Graduation day of Yuvaraja’s College on Friday.
