Merchant caught for cheating
Hyderabad: The South Zone Police on Friday arrested a flower merchant, who cheated a techie and married her after concealing his first marriage. Md Ahmed Ali, a flower merchant, had pretended to be a rich businessman with properties across the city. He called himself secretary of the ‘All India Ulema Association’. Police said Ahmed Ali ,of Falaknuma, who owns a flower store at Gudimalkapur, ran into a financial crisis and decided to make easy money by marrying a rich girl.
He offered a commission to his friend Aijaz Sultan Ahmed to find him a match. Aijaz informed him about their distant relative from Yakutpura, who works for Google. The duo lured the family with fake documents and took Rs 27 lakh from the victim’s mother. He used the money to clear is debts and purchased a car and rented a posh flat in Tolichowki. The first suspicion was raised by the victim’s relative, who then approached the police. Police recovered Rs 75,000 cash, 12 tolas of gold and a car from Ahmed Ali;s possession. A hunt is on for Aijaz.
