AIB Roast issue: Karan Johar summoned by Mumbai Police

Arjun, Ranveer and Deepika will also be summoned to record individual statements.
Mumbai: Bollywood Director Karan Johar is digging deeper into troubles as he has now been summoned under the AIB 'Roast' issue. The 43-year-old director has been recently summoned by the Mumbai Police. The show, which is also being probed by the Maharashtra Government, ran into trouble when several organisations filed FIR against the alleged obscene nature of the content along with censor board members and Bollywood stars coming out heavily against it.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, an officer from the Tardeo police station said, “We have summoned Karan Johar, which essentially means he will have to come to the Tardeo police station to give his statement. His statement will be an important part of the charge sheet that is yet to be submitted to the court. We are in touch with his advocate, who is coordinating with us. We will take his statement in a few days.
Apparently actors Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone will also be summoned. The officer said section 295 of the IPC (punishment for hurting religious sentiments) has been added to the FIR, but the police need the permission of the state’s chief secretary before submitting the charge sheet in court.
The AIB roast event, staged in Mumbai in December 2014, was attended by 4,000 people and the audience included Johar’s mother, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone among others.
