Top cops reshuffled on poll eve
There was reshuffle of senior IPS officers in the state ahead of the ensuing Assembly elections.
Chennai: In a reshuffle of senior IPS officers in the state ahead of the ensuing Assembly elections, transfers and new postings were ordered Thursday in the case of as many as nine officials. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Davidson Devasirvatham, recently placed on compulsory wait, was appointed IGP, State Police Welfare. Davidson replaces H M Jayaram, who has been transferred and posted as Additional Commissioner of Police - Traffic, Chennai City.
The serving Addl CoP – Traffic, Chennai, City - P Thamaraikannan has been transferred and posted as IGP, north zone replacing M N Manjunatha who is transferred and posted as Tiruppur City Police Commissioner replacing S.N. Seshasai, who has been transferred and posted as Addl CoP, North, Chennai City, in the existing vacancy. The post fell vacant following the retirement of VA Ravikumar.
West zone IGP K Shankar has been appointed as Addl CoP - South, Chennai, replacing C Sridhar. Sridhar is transferred and posted as IGP, Operations vice NK Senthamaraikannan, who has been appointed as IGP, central zone, in the existing vacancy. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) IGP Sandeep Rai Rathore who has returned to the state cadre after Central government deputation has been posted as IGP of coastal security group.
