Pharma park in state soon: HN Ananth Kumar
Bengaluru: Union Chemicals and Fertiliser Minister H.N. Ananth Kumar has announced that the Central government will soon set up a pharma park in the state. At the Pharma and India Medical Expo 2016 here on Thursday, he said, “As per the plans central government is planning to set up such parks in six states, including Karnataka. An agreement in this regard will be signed between the union and state governments in the forthcoming global investors meet,” he said.
The Minister said that currently one in every five tablets consumed across the globe is produced in India. “But if the pharma industries brings down the rate by 30%, they can even beat Chinese pharma industry globally,” he said.He also informed that to provide skilled manpower to the pharma industry, union government was planning to set up 12 National Institutes of Pharmasutical Education and Research Centres and one such centre will be set up in Karnataka.
State Major Industries Minister R.V. Deshpande, who was the chief guest, assured support to the pharma industry, including tax benefits, land and other basic infrastructure.
