Sarinading with fashion
Their couture venture has taken off with a bang and the city-based sisters are gearing up for more.
Bengaluru-based sisters Shruti Sarin and Aditi Sarin are quite the fashionistas — with a plan. Their love for fashion, lifestyle and all things nice and bright transpired into their first couture venture- The Luxe Affaire. We catch up with the duo to decode their personal style and more
Living by Ralph Lauren’s adage that fashion is about something that comes from within you; Aditi fondly reminisces her earliest memories of dressing fashionably. “As kids, we were always very fashion-conscious, although majority of the styling came from our mom and dad. We loved our clothes and shoes dearly and were not easy shoppers. So a majority of our clothes were customised. Growing up, we looked at our mother as our personal style icon. We copied whatever she wore. We wanted everything she had and always wanted to be like her. Having said this, we always had a little bit of ‘us’, or a personal touch to everything we wore.”
With an intend to always start a trend rather than blindly following one, the Sarin sisters have always believed that nothing comes on par with developing a distinct sense of fashion for oneself. Talking about their personal sense of style, Aditi states that her ‘ruthlessly eclectic’ style ranges from edgy, chic and boho. On the other hand, Shruti believes that hers lingers towards subtlety, class, elegance & an eye for detail. “I’m quite the shoe collector and love flaunting a couple of my statement accessories with most outfits.” she maintains. The self-confessed shopaholics are ardent travellers who spend their free time exploring new cities and learning about new cultures and heritages. “We love socialising and are always open to new ideas.”
Hailing from a management background, the idea of putting their interests, ideas and belief was always at the back of their minds. “We’ve always wanted to make a mark in the luxury segment of the fashion industry. Our family was always supportive of everything we did- be it exploring different avenues or setting up our own line.” The label houses notable and amateur designers; and the products on display start at INR 5000.
While their recently launched label is built on a mission to help people of all ages to look voguish, Shruti tells us that a majority of their shoppers belong to the age group spanning 21 to 45 years. “We love how acquaintances have turned into clients. It’s incredible that we’ve been offered so much support from so many youngsters from the city. It feels great to have people call you up and tell you that they love your stuff.” She adds.
The stylish siblings opine that everything ‘luxury’ isn’t expensive. You can feel luxurious in a Rs 2,000 dress or feel out of place in an ensemble that costs two-fold. It’s all in your mind. If you feel luxurious at the end of the day, you’ve passed!” They sign off.
