Hyderabad: City astrologers are making a killing as the suspense over GHMC election notification, reservation of wards and electoral alliance between political parties continues.
Ticket aspirants from all parties are increasingly getting restless and tense with each passing day with no clue about which ward will be reserved for which category as the TRS government continues the suspense over ward reservation.
As if this was not enough, the government has amended the GHMC Act, restricting the entire election process to just 15 days, leaving hardly any time for aspirants to make preparations.
Aspirants are thus queuing up before astrologers to know their prospects.
While city astrologers are charging up to '10,000 from each candidate, astrologers from Chennai and Varanasi, who are camping in the city, are charging up to '25,000.
Noted city-based astrologer Mr Ivaturi Bhavani Sanker said, “The rush of ticket aspirants has increased during the past week. This is because the GHMC election deadline of January 31 is nearing and candidates are clueless whether they will get a chance to contest or not due to confusion over reservations for castes and women. No one knows which ward will be allotted to which caste and which ward will be allotted to woman.”
He added, “While about five aspirants approached me every day in December, the number has increased to about 20 now. The date, place and time of birth of ticket aspirants are crucial to determine their electoral prospects and to give them suitable advice to improve their chances.”
Astrologer Mr Daivagna Sharma added, “At least 200 aspirants have approached me to predict their prospects in GHMC elections. Almost all of them pertain to reservation of wards based on caste and women. In some cases both husband and wife are coming to me to know their prospects, in case the ward is reserved for a woman.”
Interestingly, the astrologers have kept ready the horoscopes of the political parties to determine whether they match with that of ticket aspirants. TRS, TDP, BJP and Congress tickets are in high demand.
The ticket aspirants meanwhile say that the advice of astrologers is helping them reduce stress and tension. “I started gearing up for the elections long ago. But suddenly there is confusion over whether the ward will be allotted to OC or BC or to a woman. There is confusion whether TDP or BJP will contest the Ramanthapur seat due to the alliance. I was tensed and worried about my prospects and approached an astrologer who predicted bright prospects for me,” said Mr K. Parameshwar Reddy, a BJP ticket aspirant.
