Teachers oppose twin job tests in Telangana

Telangana government declaring its intentions to hold the DSC exam.

Hyderabad: Aspirants for teachers’ posts are strongly opposed to the twin qualifying tests of TET and DSC for securing jobs in Telangana. Teacher MLCs and teachers’ unions are also echoing the same sentiments. The government in the undivided state had made it mandatory for candidates to pass both tests. This rule has been in place since 2011.

Now with the Telangana government declaring its intentions to hold the DSC exam in a few months, this demand has come to the fore once again. Mr M. Hanmesh, an aspirant from Khammam district, felt the need to change the exam pattern for the convenience of lakhs of candidates.

A majority were demanding clubbing of both exams, he added. Teacher MLC P. Sudhakar Reddy also urged the government to rectify the anomaly.

The two tests were proving to be dear for candidates as they needed to shell out a lot of money on coaching and book materials, which was unnecessary, he said, adding that either TET should be scrapped or both tests should be clubbed and only one exam should be conducted.
