KINFRA to set up Rs 313 crore projects
Kochi: The Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation will set up Rs 183-crore convention centre and Rs 130-crore electronics manufacturing cluster in Kochi.
Speaking to reporters in Kochi on Wednesday, KINFRA managing director G. C. Gopala Pillai said the work on the electronics manufacturing cluster will begin soon. The project will come up in a 60-acre plot near Infopark in Kakkanad.
The anchor investor for the project has been identified, he said, and added that six more investors will be part of the venture. The anchor investor and the six other investors will control 51 per cent of the equity for the venture. The central government will provide '50 crore for the venture, Mr Pillai said.
The convention centre will have the capacity to hold 5,000 persons. It will also have smaller halls and exhibition facilities. The project will be located in a 20-acre land. A seven-star hotel will also be built close to the convention centre in a five-acre land. The two projects will be completed within 18 months and the work will start in two or three months.
Addressing a meeting of Ernakulam Press Club on the development needs of the city earlier in the day, Mr Pillai called for setting up an urban development department for the orderly growth of cities in the state.
