I’ll cut off your tongue: TMC MP’s threat to CPM leader

TMC MP also threatened to break CPM leader’s limbs.

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP from Basirhat Idris Ali threatened to chop off CPI(M) leader Gautam Deb and break his limbs causing immense embarrassment to his party and party leadership. To add to their discomfiture, Ali made a more shocking statement linking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s surprise visit to Pakistan with the terror attack at the Pathankot air base.

“I feel there is some link between PM Modi’s Pakistan visit and the terrorist attack in Pathankot. Why did the Pathankot attack take place right after PM’s visit to Pakistan?” he asked, adding this was his personal opinion.

Ali spewed venom against Deb and other Opposition leaders at a public meeting, while he made his irresponsible statement against the Prime Minister while talking to the media. When his hate speech, which he delivered in his parliamentary constituency on Tuesday, was aired by some local TV channels, it sparked a political storm and media outrage. When the news reached chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who was in Midnapore, she was furious. On her directive, the Trinamool Congress’ disciplinary committee held an emergency meeting and decided to issue a showcause notice to the errant MP.

Trinamul Congress national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien made it clear that the party had taken serious note of Mr Ali’s distasteful statement.

“I saw the video footage of MP Idris Ali’s cr-ass and unhealthy comments. The party certainly does not endorse these views. We have asked him to give a written explanation. After he replies, the party will take action,” he added.

On Tuesday afternoon, referring to CPI(M) leader’s tirade against Ms Banerjee over the Saradha chit fund scan, Mr Ali said: “Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is an epitome of honesty. If Gautam Deb speaks ill of her again and says he will send her to jail, then I will cut off his tongue and break his hands and legs.”

He also made disparaging remarks about Congress leaders Adhir Chowdhury and Manas Bhunia, and BJP leader Roopa Ganguly.
