Higher education director shunted out in Kerala

The frequent anomalies in the transfer process had put the government in trouble.

Thiruvananthapuram: Mr K.N. Satheesh, higher secondary education director, has been shunted out following the flip-flop in the transfer process of teachers. Commissioner for Rural Development K.V. Mohankumar has been appointed as the new director. The frequent anomalies in the transfer process had put the government in trouble.

The government had set up a four-member committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary V.S. Senthil to look into the anomalies following the intervention by the Kerala Administrative Tribunal. The tribunal had wanted the government to give teachers full opportunity to know the vacancies in various schools.

The committee also directed the government to publish the vacancy for transfer online. It insisted that teachers who completed five years in a station should be considered for open vacancy and compassionate transfers should not exceed 10 per cent of the total vacancies in a district. The directorate issued a provisional transfer order two days back saying that the final order after rectifying the anomalies will be issued on January 12. This had resulted in criticism that the decision to transfer the teachers during the third term would derail the whole examination process.
