55-year-old dies after house catches fire in Ramamurthy Nagar

BENGALURU: A 55-year-old man, suspected to be in inebriated condition, died of suffocation caused due to accidental fire which broke due to suspected electrical short circuit at his house in Ramamurthy Nagar, early Tuesday. The deceased, identified as P. Madhavan, use to do odd jobs and lived with his son M. Lokesh, at his house in Kuvempu Nagar.
According to the police, Madhavan came home drunk late in the night was trying to light a mosquito coil. He came in contact with the live wire and got electrocuted. Soon the fire broke out followed by a thick smoke. Some neighbours noticed the smoke rushed to his help and alerted the fire control room. Madhavan to a near-by hospital where he was declared as brought dead.
Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot to put out the fire. The Ramamurthy Nagar police are awaiting post-mortem report to ascertain the exact reason of death.
