Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao unveils KTPP, says no power cuts by 2018
WARANGAL: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao dedicated Phase-II of Kakatiya Power project at Chelpur to the nation here on Tuesday. The 600 MW project has been constructed at a cost of '4,334.11 crore.
After unveiling the pylon in the power project complex, the Chief Minister, accompanied by officials, took a tour of the project and interacted with the engineers.
Later, addressing a public meeting, he declared that the TRS government was working to fulfil its vow of uninterrupted power supply. “By 2018, there will not be any power cuts in the state for even a blink of an eye. Farmers will also get nine hours electricity in the daytime from next kharif season,” Mr Rao said.
He said that keeping in mind the issues of the electricity employees, a decision to increase the salaries of outsourced employees will be taken soon and contract junior linemen will been regularised from Wednesday itself.
Though construction of the project began in January 2009, work gathered pace after formation of Telangana state.
Boiler light up of the project took place on May 31, 2015. On October 22, the trial run took place, but inauguration was delayed due to the Warangal bypoll.
Synchronisation began on December 29 and it attained full capacity of 600 MW on December 3
