KR Market woes: Cop intervenes

Roads in and around K.R. Market are in poor condition and need immediate asphalting.
Bengaluru: When Mayor B.N. Manjunath Reddy made a surprise visit to K.R. Market on Tuesday, it was not the ordinary citizens who aired their woes, but it was Assistant Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) S.K. Umesh who apprised the Mayor and BBMP officials about the area’s problems.
Roads in and around K.R. Market are in poor condition and need immediate asphalting. They are also affecting traffic flow, Umesh said. In addition, motorists are having nightmarish experience while using roads below the flyover as they are poorly lit during night.
He urged the Mayor to ensure that the street lamps are properly maintained to ensure safety of pedestrians as well as motorists. This would also help smooth flow of traffic during the night, he added. Later, Mr Reddy visited the pedestrian underpass and directed officials to fix the lamps that have become defunct. He also directed them to plug the leakage in the underpass.
Umesh also pointed out that ever since the BWSSB took up manhole construction work, the surroundings near the BMTC bus stand have become filthy. Mr Reddy directed the BWSSB authorities to complete the work at the earliest. The Mayor came down heavily against authorities in-charge of biomethanisation plant at the K.R. Market and directed them to fix the unit and keep the areas surrounding the plant clean.
