Exams to start on March 4 for Plus-2 and Class X
Chennai: The Directorate of Government Examinations on Tuesday announced state board examination schedule for Plus-2 and Class X . The higher secondary examinations will start on March 4 and Class X examinations on March 15. Last year, Plus-2 examinations started on March 5 and Class X examinations on March 19. The higher secondary examination will be between 10:15 am and 1: 15 pm while the Class X examination starts from 9:30 am and ends at noon.
S. Arumainathan of Tamil Nadu Parents’ Welfare Association, said the timetable has disappointed students and parents. “After floods many are still recovering from the agony. The authorities had not considered this fact. After the half-yearly examinations which end on January 22, there will be just more than a month left for the annual examination.”
Educationist Prince Gajendra Babu felt that the sole reason behind scheduling the examinations early is Assembly election. “It is very insensitive on the part of the state government to keep a gap of one month or so. They are doing it solely because of election,” he said. When contacted, D. Sabitha, principal secretary to government , did not comment on the advancement of the examination dates.
