Chhattisgarh: Told to go home naked, rape victim ends life
Raipur: In a shocking and heart-rending incident, a minor girl in a Chhattisgarh village committed suicide by hanging herself in a tree when she was gang-raped and then asked by the rapists to go home naked.
The Chhattisgarh police on Tuesday cracked a week-old suicide case by arresting five teenagers including three juveniles allegedly involved in the ghastly incident, occurred in the village of Tenda Nabapara under Ghargoda police limits in Raigarh district on the intervening night of December 29-30.
“The five youths asked the 15-year-old girl to walk her home naked after gang raping her. They then fled the spot with her clothes. The victim could not bear the shame and committed suicide by hanging herself from a tree with her scarf on the crime spot”, Gghargoda police station in-charge T.L. Mishra told this newspaper.
According to him, the girl had gone to watch a fair in the neighbouring village along with two of her friends.
The alleged victim who along with one of her boy acquaintances was returning home after visiting the fair, was waylaid on way by five youths. The accused beat the boy mercilessly and snatched his cell phone.
They then forcibly took the girl to the nearby jungle and raped her one after another.
The accused took away her clothes, purse, money and cell phone before fleeing the spot. They then asked her to go home without clothes.
