Hyderabad: Madhapur rape accused Dilip Sarkar, 39, has claimed that he had paid a woman to have sex with her 14-year-old sister, who became pregnant as a result. The minor delivered her baby in school in November last. He told the police that he knew the victim was a minor, but paid money to keep it a secret.
Dilip, a native of Bengal, was arrested by the Madhapur police on Sunday. A resident of Kondapur, he is married and lives with his wife and kids, and runs a canteen near Chandranayak Tanda, where the victim was living with her sister. He allegedly had an affair with the victim’s sister.
“The victim’s sister used to run a small shop, and Dilip used to visit her often. He met the victim during his frequent visits and raped her. We suspect her sister was aware of it,” said Madhapur inspector N. Narasimhulu.
Nobody from the victim’s family had approached police till the Class IX student delivered the baby in the washroom of the Madhapur government school in the last week of November.
The victim delivered the baby in the school’s toilet located in the 3rd floor without help. A student who noticed the delivery informed the teachers. The female staff provided her first aid. After the delivery became known, police had to persuade the victim’s sister and father to lodge a complaint.
The victim’s father and sister were not ready to talk about the matter. Police officials said they had not revealed much during questioning. The sister denied she had taken money from Dilip.
Police has booked Dilip under IPC Section 376 (rape) and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He has been sent to 14-day judicial remand.
