Hyderabad: Anti trafficking cops have identified a ‘sin triangle’ in Rayalaseema from where many girls are trafficked for sex trade.
AP Inspector General of Police S. Umapati said that mandals falling in the triangle of Anantapur, Kadapa and Chitoor were prime areas for sourcing girls for tracking to Delhi. Girls from Visakhapat-nam, Godavari districts and Krishna are trafficked to Goa.
Mr Umapati said, “There are 25 mandals in this ‘sin triangle’ in and around Kadiri, Tambalapalli and other areas. There is a need to focus on these areas.”
Founder of Prajwala Dr Sunita Krishnan said there were 20 identified organised traffickers in Hyderabad and people from erstwhile Soviet nations and Africa were now trafficked into the city.
“Kidnappings are no more reported in girl trafficking cases and most of them are lured in the name of jobs, marriage, love and other manipulations. The victims’ ages have been coming down. There is also a link to the porn industry and juvenile sex offences. Several porn videos uploaded on the Net pertain to them, which are filmed under coercion,” Dr Krishnan told this correspondent.
