Bengaluru: Caught red-handed with lover, woman kills in-laws
BENGALURU: In order to conceal her illicit relationship, a 30-year-old woman with the help of her paramour, a defence staffer, allegedly hacked her in-laws to death with machete and hammers at their residence in AKS Layout in Kadugodi. Later they covered the bodies in polythene bags and placed it under a cot. The accused woman also attacked her husband, but he managed to escape and lodged a police complaint.
The accused, Durga, wife of Manikanta, 34, an electrician and a resident of AKS Layout in Kadugodi, was arrested by the police along with her paramour Anji, who works as a technical staff in MEG. The deceased, Kannan, 70, and Manoramani, 65, were found murdered on Monday noon. The cold blooded murder had come to light when the relatives of the deceased began the search for the couple after Manikanta was attacked by Durga and Anji. They were shocked to find the couple’s bodies lying hidden under a cot.
According to DCP South-East, Dr M.B. Boralingaiah, Durga had married Manikanta a few years ago and they had two children. Both the kids were living with Durga’s parents. Recently, Durga met Anji and fell in love with him. The duo had even eloped to Andhra Pradesh a few months ago and had returned recently. However Durga continued to be in touch with Anji. She recently contacted Anji and hatched a plan to eliminate Manikanta and his parents.
On late Sunday night, Durga was caught red-handed with Anji by her father-in-law, who reprimanded her. Durga, along with the her paramour, attacked Kannan with a machete and bludgeoned him to death. In order to conceal their crime, they then hid Kannan’s body under the cot after wrapping it with a polythene bag and waited for her mother-in-law.
“After sometime, Manoramani came and enquired about her husband and she too was hacked to death. Following the same modus operandi, they hid her body under the cot. When Manikanta returned home from work, he found blood on the floor. Durga attacked him too. However, he escaped and raised an alarm,” Boralingaiah said.
Neighbours who heard the commotion rushed for Manikanta’s rescue and managed to nab Durga and her paramour. Meanwhile, a profusely bleeding Manikanta was rushed to a nearby hospital by the police, who had rushed to the spot after receiving an alert. Based on his statement, Durga and Anji were arrested by the police, who confessed to the crime, added the police.
