Scalebound hit by a delay
Set to release in 2016, PlatinumGames have confirmed its Xbox One exclusive Scalebound will launch in 2017.
In a post the Osaka-based firm explained that while production is going well, Scalebound is one of the biggest games they have ever created. In order to deliver on promises they have made and for the title to live up to expectations, they have had to delay it.
Scalebound is an action-RPG in which players fight alongside a dragon named Thuban. It features stylised combat along with an inventive multiplayer system. The last demo for Scalebound was at the Gamescom in 2015, and it seemed like the game was fairly early in the development phase. But it’s a good idea to delay it.
The final months of the year are dominated by big, established franchises from third-party developers. Scalebound is better suited to be released in a month with very little competition. PlatinumGames are also working on too many titles including Star Fox Zero for Wii U and Nier: Automata for the PS 4, which might have influenced the delay.
More recently, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was delayed by a little over a month and it will now launch on April 27th, 2016.
We also expect massive undertakings like Horizon Zero Dawn and Mass Effect Andromeda to be delayed by a bit as well.
