Special court for Chhota Rajan trial
A government notification regarding the new court would be issued in a day or two.
Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has designated a special court for conducting the trials of cases in which the deported gangster Chhota Rajan is an accused.
“The government had sought permission in this regard, and now the High Court has designated a court in Mumbai,” said a highly placed source.
A government notification regarding the new court would be issued in a day or two. Chhota Rajan alias Rajendra Nikalje is facing around 70 cases in Maharashtra, which include journalist J Dey murder case.
Last month, the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court here had issued a production warrant against him and directed the Tihar Jail officials in Delhi to produce him on January 7.
The Maharashtra government has handed over all the cases against him to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
