Arjun Kapoor roped in for 'Half Girlfriend' opposite Shraddha Kapoor

The film helmed by Mohit Suri is expected to roll in February.

Mumbai: Arjun Kapoor has been roped in to play the lead role of Mohit Suri's 'Half Girlfriend', based on Chetan Bhagat's novel of the same name. Incidentally, the actor was also seen in another adaptation of Chetan's bestseller '2 States' starring Alia Bhatt.

Arjun, who had flown off to Buenos Aires in November for a month long schedule for an upcoming reality show, gave away a green-lit to the project over a telephonic chat. According to reports, the actor has been secretly undergoing Bhojpuri dialect and accent-training for the past three weeks to play a love boy. He is also spending two hour daily on the basketball court to convincingly play Madhav Jha, a small town basketball player with big dreams.

Apparently, Arjun has several looks in the film as he ages from a teenager to an aged founder of a school. The actor has been cast opposite Shraddha Kapoor in the film.

Several Bollywood actors were in contention for the lead pair. Earlier Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon were signed for the film. They soon opted out and there were speculations about Parineeti Chopra being roped in for the movie. The film is expected to roll in February and will be shot across Mumbai, London and New York and parts of Bihar.

Arjun will also be seen in R Balki's 'Ki and Ka' also starring Kareena Kapoor. On the other hand, Shraddha will be seen in 'Rock On 2' starring Farhan Akhtar and Arjun Rampal.
