Telangana advocates file case on Sadananda Gowda over split
Hyderabad: Telangana Advocates JAC on Sunday lodged a complaint against Union Law minister Sadananda Gowda, alleging that he made a false promise in March 2015, by saying that the AP High Court will be bifurcated immediately. Since the decision was not implemented, the advocates lodged a complaint with the Saroornagar police.
The advocates, in their complaint alleged that Mr Gowda, during a campaign for MLC election at LB Nagar in March, 2015, assured advocates that the High Court will be bifurcated and Telangana state will get a new High Court. They said that though nearly 10 months have passed, there has been no progress in the announcement.
“Article 214 of the Constitution says that each state should have a High Court of its own, but the minister and the Central government are delaying the process due to pressure from AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union minister Venkaiah Naidu,” said JAC member K. Goverdhan Reddy in the complaint.
The advocates, in their complaint, alleged that the Union minister had made the promise only for the MLC polls to gain political mileage, but did not keep his promise. A general diary entry of the complaint was made.
“We forwarded the complaint for legal opinion. Based on it, we will take action.” said Saroornagar inspector S. Lingaiah.
