Mysuru washed for Mr Swachh, left thirsty

At least 11 wards in the city are in the grip of a severe water crisis.

Mysuru: For the past three days, Mysuru has been awash.. with water! No, this was no downpour. It's the Mysuru City Corporation washing the streets to live up to its tag as the cleanest city in the country! Result? No drinking water in our heritage capital!

The Mysuru that Prime Minister Narendra Modi saw on Saturday as he arrived on a two day visit is the cleanest it’s ever been in all its hoary history! And the most water-deprived.

At least 11 wards in the city are in the grip of a severe water crisis after City corporation water tankers washed the roads leading to Maharaja’s College ground on Saturday morning. The hapless residents from ward 54 to ward 65 were forced to buy water from private tankers, forking out Rs 500 to Rs 700.

All roads leading to the venue of Amphitheatre of University of Mysuru, where the PM will inaugurate Indian Science Congress, have been freshly asphalted. The potholes on the road snaking up to the Lalit Mahal Palace hotel and all other roads that the PM will take have been given the makeover as have all the medians.
