He visited the NSS headquarters at Perunna

Kottayam: BJP state President Kummanam Rajasekaran has assured the Nair Service Society (NSS) that his party would initiate corrective measures if it were hurt. He visited the NSS headquarters at Perunna and held discussions with NSS general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair after paying floral tributes at the Mannam Samadhi on Saturday during the 139th Mannam Jayanthi celebrations.

“The BJP will rectify if some among us had hurt the NSS. We'll settle the issues through talks. We always had a very warm relationship, and it will continue,” he told reporters at Perunna. Former state president of BJP V. Muralidharan and party national committee member P.K. Krishnandas were also with him.

Sources said, in the course of the discussions, the NSS general secretary expressed displeasure over a section of the BJP leaders insulting the NSS with their statements.

Mr Nair while addressing delegates' meet had said NSS will not be "a tail of any political party" referring to BJP. He also demanded the BJP leadership to learn from other political parties including the Left, letting members work with NSS.

Mar cleemis lauds nss for keeping secular values

NSS founder Mannathu Padmanabhan never used the Nair community to reap political benefits, said Baselios Mar Cleemis Catholica Bava on Saturday. Inaugurating the 139th Jayanthi celebrations of Mannathu Padmanabhan at the NSS headquarters at Perunna, Chanaganssery, he also complimented the Nair community and its present leadership for upholding the values of Mannathu Padmanabhan.

“Though he was not a full-time political worker, he separated community activity from politics. He had staunch loyalty and commitment towards secularism, and believed in serving his community without harming others,” said Mar Cleemis, head of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church.
