BENGALURU: A 22-year-old youth was allegedly assaulted in Kothanur early on Saturday morning after he tried to wish his girlfriend Happy New Year by flashing torch light on her bedroom window.
The incident took place near K. Narayanapura under Kothanur police limits at around 1.30 am. Pradeep, the injured youth, a resident of K. Narayanpura was assaulted by the girl's parents and neighbours and is being treated in a private hospital.
The police said the incident took place on Friday around 1.30 am after Pradip went to wish his girlfriend at her house.
As he went there, he tried to wake his girlfriend up by flashing a torch light. But his luck ran out when the girl’s father, identified as Jayaram Reddy, noticed it. He, along with his wife and few other relatives, caught hold of Pradeep and brutally assaulted him.
The police further said that after the assault Pradeep was barely able to walk and managed to reach his home and informed his parents. They rushed then him to a nearby hospital. They also alerted the police and filed a complaint based on which Jayaram Reddy was arrested.
“The girl’s parents have also given their version that they were worried when they saw a person flashing torch light at the bedroom and thought someone had come to rob the house.” “We are looking into both the versions and investigating it,” said an investigating officer.
The Kothanur police has registered a case and began investigation.
