Karishma Kotak
Favourite TV show: Modern Family
I love watching the Modern Family: it’s crisp and by far, one of the best prime time sitcoms ever made. Supported by a great ensemble cast, this is the only sitcom I ever watch even if that means downloading and watching it. I seem to have all the patience for it somehow. Most of the episodes so far have ended with a group hug or an acknowledgement that, even though they don’t always get along, this family loves one another. It’s quite a gentle way of sending this message out.

Favourite album: Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa
Since I was a ’90s kid, I was hooked on to Jatin-Lalit’s music. Be it Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and many more. It is hard for me to pick one, but if I had to, it would be Kabhi Haan Kabi Naa. It was just so melodious and innocent. It’s a nostalgic album for me.

Kalyan Karmakar
Favourite cuisine: Bengali
Being a Bengali, I would recommend that people experience Bengali food and get to know more about it. I would recommend Bhojohori Manna for a traditional Bengali meal. You could go to any of the Hangla outlets to try street food dishes such as rolls and the uniquely styled Kolkata biryani. There is a myth that Bengali cuisine mainly caters to the non-vegetarian; visiting an authentic Bengali restaurant might just change the perception. Then of course, there is the brilliant street food of Kolkata.

Farah Oomerbhoy Favourite book: Pride and Prejudice
A masterpiece of storytelling, I would recommend Jane Austen’s unforgettable novel Pride and Prejudice to everyone. It has captivated readers of all ages for over 200 years. I first read Pride and Prejudice when I was 12 and subsequently I ended up re-reading it every few years. It is a book that deals with a whole canvas of human emotions in a fascinating way. Jane Austen’s in-depth understanding of the human situation within family life and in polite society is seen in all her books. But for me it is Pride and Prejudice that pulls you into the world of Regency England, and takes you on a journey that will stay with you long after the last page is turned.

Aditi BhagwatFavourite play: Stories in a Song
One play I would recommend that everyone watch is Sunil Shanbag’s Stories in a Song. I watched it at the Prithvi Theatre last year. The play presents the simultaneous development of songs, stories, history, culture and literature during the changing times in India. The play is conceived and researched by Shubha Mudgal and Anees Pradhan and being a dancer, I could totally relate to it and enjoyed it a lot. The plots also depict the struggles and hardships of musicians in India through historical and cultural changes. It has seven short stories that present the traditional Indian forms of music like kajri, thumri and qawali among others.. The play is informative and yet manages to entertain.

Sharman Joshi Favourite film: Star Wars series
There are very few films that leave an impact on you, as comparable to the Star Wars films. It was surreal to relive the again, with The Force Awakens. The cinematography, script, the background score leave the viewers in awe. I know people who have been watching the series since they were children. Even though the latest film has come after seven years, it feels like the first part released just a while ago. With the Star Wars films, every character grows with (and on) you. It’s a cult franchise, which generations will continue to watch.
