Thumbs up for the script!

Kishore Tirumala’s debut as a director with Nenu Sailaja proves to be a success.
Nenu Sailaja offers the much-needed big break for actor Ram Pothineni, whose previous films didn’t do much at the box office. Directed by writer Kishore Tirumala, the movie sees the Telugu debut of Keerthi Suresh. With impressive music by Devi Sri Prasad, the movie is sure to steal the viewers’ heart.
Hari (Ram) is working as DJ in a pub. After being rejected by women who only see him as a good friend, he decides not to propose any girl in future. When Sailaja, played by Keerthi, comes into his life, Hari is in a dilemma as he fears the same would happen if he proposed her. One day, Hari expresses his love to Sailaja to which she replies she loves him but she is not in love with him, asks him to forget her and leaves. A confused Hari checks on her and comes to know that her parents had fixed her marriage with her brother-in-law. How Hari lands at her house and manages to win the hearts of Sailaja and her parents is the crux of the story.
Full marks to Kishore Tirumala for coming up with a good film. With a normal story narrated in an interesting manner, including some classy dialogues, he has made the movie unique. The debutante has avoided creating a separate track for humour, which blends with the storyline. The dialogues are memorable, and there are quite a few heart-touching moments between father, mother and daughter.
Nenu Sailaja is a director’s film and the whole credit goes to Kishore’s innovative narration. The cinematography by Sameer Reddy adds to the charm of the love story.
Ram has given his best performance till date. Known for his energetic dances, dialogues and overdoing of action, the actor has maintained a subtlety throughout, even in songs. For the pretty Keerthi, though this is her first Telugu film, she never looks like a debutant. Sathyaraj as Sailaja’s father does it with ease; more than dialogues, his expressions steal the show. Pradeep Rawat, mostly seen in negative roles, has a comic avater in the movie. Naresh, Rohini, Chaitanya Krishna, Prince and Dhanya supported the storyline well with their performances.
Special mention needed for Devi Sri Prasad’s music, especially the soothing background music, which highlights the emotional segments.
There are a few flaws as well. The second half appears like a dubbed movie as most of the artistes are from Kollywood — Vijay Kumar, Satyaraj, Keerthi and Pradeep. Pradeep Rawat is a complete miscast as his character is not convincing.
However, Nenu Sailaja is a feel-good romantic film with a simple love story and excellent performances by Ram and Keerthi. The star of the movie is the director, who presented the story beautifully. The family entertainer is worth a watch with your family!
