Bengaluru: Friends kill man at New Year party
BENGALURU: New year revelry turned tragic when a 27-year-old was stabbed to death by his friends in a drunken brawl in RBI Layout in J.P. Nagar 7th Phase on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Santosh. The police have arrested his friends Manoj, Deepak and Pavan in this connection. Santosh and the accused trio hailed from Sakaleshapura in Hassan and were working with a cable operator in the city from the last one-and-a-half years.
Police said the friends had organised a party to celebrate New Year which went on till 1.30 and they had consumed alcohol. Meanwhile, there was a quarrel between Santosh and Deepak over an issue and the accused trio stabbed Santosh in the chest and he died on the spot. After the incident, the accused called up one of the friends of Santosh and informed him about the incident. The friend rushed to the spot and also informed the police, who arrested the three accused.
A case is registered in Subramanyapura police station in this connection.
24-year-old stabbed
Revelry on the New Year’s Eve on M.G. Road landed a 24-year-old man in hospital after he was stabbed by an unidentified man from another group over a trivial row on Thursday night.
The victim, Vijay Kumar, was dancing with his friends near Cauvery Junction when he had a spat with a few men from another group. A heated argument ensued and a man from the other group pulled out a knife and stabbed Vijay in the stomach. The gang soon disappeared in the crowd. The traffic police rushed Vijay to Bowring Hospital, where he was treated and discharged. No complaint was registered.
Man falls from building, dies
A 25-year-old man died after he fell from the second floor of a building while partying for the New Year along with his friends in Whitefield early Friday. The deceased has been identified as Shivakrishna, a resident of Nallooruhalli in Whitefield and a native of Khammam district in Telangana, the police said.
According to the police, the incident is said to have happened between 2:30 am and 5:30 am, when Shivakrishna, employed in a Mahadevapura based pharma company, was partying for the New Year with his five friends at his residence located on the second floor of a building in Nalloorahalli in Whitefield, said the police.
While five of his friends were asleep at Shivakrishna’s house, the ground floor neighbour spotted the victim lying in a pool of blood around 5:30 am. He informed the friends who intimated the police. The police reached the spot and conducted their preliminary investigations and rushed the body to Vydehi Hospital for post-mortem.
The police suspect that it could be an accident, where the victim may have slipped. A case of unnatural death has been registered.
