TRS’ only achievement is painting city pink: TPCC

Mr Reddy said that the ruling party leaders had told settlers to leave the city.
Hyderabad: With the GHMC polls around the corner, the Congress is concentrating on the votes of settlers, vowing to protect their interests and work for their safety and welfare
TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday said that the only achievement of the ruling party was putting up pink flags, posters and hoardings across the city and inviting Opposition leaders and activists with pink khanduvas.
Reminding the statements made by the TRS leadership on settlers in the city, Mr Reddy said that the ruling party leaders had told settlers to leave the city and introduced the ‘FAST’ scheme (which was later struck down by the High Court) designed to deprive children of settlers of the fee reimbursement scheme. The TRS government also deliberately demolished several structures belonging to settlers terming them illegal buildings and even removed 6.5 lakh settlers from the voter list in the GHMC.
“The same TRS leaders are now saying that whoever lives in Hyderabad are Telanganites, this is nothing but doublespeak,” Mr Reddy said.
He said settlers should keep all these in mind and then cast their votes.
At a separate media conference, Congress leader Shabbir Ali urged Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to adopt a resolution this New Year of not making any more false promises.
He said he has sent a greeting card to the CM, requesting him to stop making false promises from this New Year.
“KCR began 2015 by making a false promise on January 1. Speaking after inaugurating the Numaish, he promised to transfer the land to the Exhibition Society. Even after one year, the promise has not been fulfilled. With what face will KCR inaugurate it this year?” he asked.
“The cash-for-vote and phone tapping cases will forever remain a mystery since KCR and Naidu promised action against each other, but are now thick friends, thereby hushing up the investigations,” Mr Shabbir Ali said.
