VTU Vice Chancellor has agreed to provide adequate space at Muddenahalli to establish the Centre.
TUMAKURU: In a move to develop talent and economic infrastructure needed for the growth of the aerospace sector, the state government plans to establish a Centre for Excellence in Aerospace at the birthplace of Sir M Visvesvaraya under public-private partnership. The Centre will come up at Visvesvaraya Technological University’s (VTU) PG Centre campus in Muddenahalli, the birth place of Sir Visvesvaraya in Chikkaballapura district, about 50 km from Bengaluru. This decision was taken at a Higher Education Council meeting held recently in Bengaluru, chaired by law minister Mr T.B. Jayachandra, who is chairman of the Council.
VTU Vice Chancellor Prof H. Maheshappa, has agreed to provide adequate space at Muddenahalli to establish the Centre. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Prof Maheshappa said that they have about 200 acres of land apart from 1 lakh square feet of built area and added that it would be a suitable place for an Aerospace Centre as it is near Kempegowda International Airport.
Experts in the field and companies like HAL will be roped in to design the subject, curriculum and other requirements, with the help of Technological Universities.
