BBMP yet to collect Rs 24 crore dues: Umesh Shetty
Bengaluru: Govindarajanagar corporator Umesh Shetty alleged that the cash strapped BBMP is yet to claim betterment fee from RNS builders and for another property at Herohalli, which is owned by a city MLA. The dues from the two defaulters were around Rs 24 crore.
At the council meet, he pointed out that RNS builders have got about 65 acres of land converted and khata done.
They were expected to pay Rs 11.09 crore and six areas within the converted land have been earmarked for park and public amenities. Neither the development fee has been paid to BBMP, nor six acres relinquished to BBMP or BDA. Why is BBMP not initiating any action, he questioned?
In reply, R.R. Nagar joint commissioner Veerabhadrappa said that as far as RNS builders property was concerned, they were issued conditional khata by taking affidavit from them as per the court direction. RNS authorities have so far paid Rs 2.15 crore and efforts will be made to collect the remaining Rs 8.94 crore, he said.
As far as property at Herohalli is concerned, the authorities claimed that they had a court stay. But, the BBMP authorities have clarified that the court stay was not applicable to Herohalli property.
Mr Veerabhadrappa said that property in Herohalli owes BBMP Rs 13.05 crore and notices have been issued. Stern action will be taken to collect the dues, he added. Mayor B.N. Manjunath Reddy directed the authorities to collect without fail.
