Air Canada flight lands in Calgary after strong turbulence, several injured
Fire and other emergency crews were on hand when the plane landed.
Toronto: Air Canada says that a flight en route from Shanghai to Toronto has been diverted to Calgary after emergency crews say heavy turbulence injured about 20 passengers.
Responders were dispatched to Calgary International Airport to treat the injured passengers.
Air Canada spokeswoman Isabelle Arthur said that the Boeing 777 Air Canada flight AC088 was carrying 332 passengers and 19 crew members on Wednesday. She says the aircraft landed without incident.
The airline says some passengers will require hospitalization but could not confirm how many people will be sent to nearby hospitals.
There was no official word on the severity of the injuries.
Fire and other emergency crews were on hand when the plane landed.
