MLC polls: Most of TRS winners had joined it recently

TRS' Kasireddy Narayana Reddy also won with a huge margin from Mahbubnagar.

Hyderabad: TRS candidate and former MLC Balasani Laxminarayana comfortably won from the Khammam local body authorities, defeating his nearest rival, CPI veteran Puvvada Nageswara Rao whose candidature was supported by the Congress and the TDP.

Mr Laxminarayana had earlier served as TD MLC and had defected to TRS last year. TRS candidate Kasireddy Narayana Reddy also won with a huge margin from Mahbubnagar. Mr Narayana Reddy, who owns several educational institutions, had also joined the TRS recently.

TRS candidates Patnam Narender Reddy and Sunkari Raju aka Shambipur Raju won from Ranga Reddy district local authorities. Mr Narender Reddy, brother of TRS minister Mahender Reddy and close relative of former Congress home minister Sabita Indra Reddy, was earlier a TD MLC. He, too, had defected to the TRS.

Mr Shambipur Raju, a close associate of minister K.T. Rama Rao, who was being considered a novice in politics, won the second seat from Ranga Reddy district after officials applied the elimination process and declared him elected.

Congress candidate and former MP Komatireddy Rajagopala Reddy won from Nalgonda local body authorities constituency, defeating TRS nominee Tera Chinnapa Reddy by a margin of 193 votes.

Congress nominee Kuchkulla Damodar Reddy won the second seat from Mahbubnagar, defeating TRS candidate and former MLC Jagdeeshwar Reddy.
