Over Rs 195 crore contributed to Tamil Nadu CM’s public relief fund
Chennai: The state government has received Rs 195.43 crore towards the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief fund for taking up relief and rehabilitation of the flood affected in the state.
An official press release said that on Tuesday alone, the Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa received Rs 25.76 crore from several persons towards the fund. Among others, Deputy Speaker, Lok Sabha, M. Thambidurai and AIADMK MPs, P. Venugopal and A. Navaneethakrishnan handed over one month salary of Lok Sabha and Rajya Saba AIADMK MPs totalling Rs 24.50 lakh. Similarly, Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker P. Dhanapal, Minister O. Panneerselvam and others handed over Rs 75.36 lakh.
Tata Consultancy Services CEO and Managing Director, N. Chandrasekaran gave Rs 10 crore. Executive Vice-Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, Preetha Reddy gave Rs 3 crore and CMD, Sundaram Fasteners, Suresh Krishna, Rs 3 crore.
Public sector Indian Oil Corporation Limited Chairman, B. Ashok and MD, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited, Gautham Roy gave Rs 4.77 crore, CMD, The New India Assurance, G. Srinivasan gave Rs 3 crore and Director, Malai Murasu, R. Kannan Aathithan Rs 1 crore.
